Next time on The New York Philharmonic This Week, we hear selections from the Orchestra’s storied discography. Holst’s The Planets, conducted by then-Music Director Zubin Mehta, will be followed by another treasure from the archives: a reading from Edwin Hubble’s essay The Explorations of Space by Dr. Hubble himself, which originally aired in a 1945 New York Philharmonic broadcast. We’ll continue with Respighi’s Roman Festivals and Pines of Rome, both conducted by Giuseppe Sinopoli.
