Fabio Biondi and his ensemble Europa Galante return to the Naïve label’s Vivaldi Edition with Concerti per violino XI ‘Per Anna Maria’. The 71st album in Naïve’s ambitious Vivaldi Edition features seven concertos likely composed between 1710 and the 1720s. This eleventh volume of Vivaldi’s violin concertos bears the name of one of the most famous performers of the early eighteenth century: Anna Maria (1696-1782). A child prodigy and an exceptional performer from the Ospedale delle Pietà where Vivaldi taught for forty years, Anna Maria was an accomplished musician whose personal repertoire included thirty-one concertos written for her, at least twenty-four of which were dedicated to her by Vivaldi.
