Gaspar Cassadó i Moreu was born in Barcelona to a church musician father, Joaquim Cassadó, and began taking cello lessons at age seven. When he was nine, he played in a recital where Pablo Casals was in the audience; Casals immediately offered to teach him. He soon would travel the world becoming one of the preeminent cellists in the world as well as a great composer. We’ll share recordings of his works featuring the Quartet Altimira and Andrés Segovia. As well as the maestro performing his own work Requiebros.
