Campra: Messe de Requiem & The Masters of Notre-Dame de Paris

2024HMM-902679Baroque, Choral, Sacred

Led by harpsichordist and organist Sébastien Daucé, Ensemble Correspondances brings together a group of singers and instrumentalists, all of whom are specialists in seventeenth-century French repertory.

Ensemble Correspondances made its Chicago debut in the spring of 2022 at University of Chicago. Their new album centers the Messe de Requiem of André Campra, contextualizing it with works by François Cosset, Jean Veillot, Jean Mignon, and Pierre Robert — neglected composers of earlier generations. Though now overshadowed by their brilliant colleague, these maîtres de musique of Notre-Dame who, made no less of a contribution to the development of the French style emblematic of the reign of Louis XIV.

Tracklist

Andre Campra: “Messe de Requiem”
Jean Veillot: “Ave verum corpus”
Jean Veillot: “Domine salvum fac regem”
Pierre Robert: “Christe redemptor omnium”
Pierre Robert: “Tristis est anima mea”
