WARSAW, Poland (AP) – The pianist who actually played the piano parts for Adrien Brody in the film “The Pianist” has died. Polish musician and teacher Janusz Olejniczak died of a heart attack at the age of 72 on Sunday, October 20, according to his family. Olejniczak’s hands can be seen playing the piano in the “The Pianist.” Brody won a best actor Oscar for his role in that film.
Olejniczak was only 18 when he became a laureate of the 8th International Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 1970. He was considered one of the most outstanding contemporary performers of Chopin’s music, although he also performed contemporary music.
