In Autumn 2004, WFMT started airing the Best of Studs Terkel, a weekly showcase featuring the wide-ranging programs and interviews that Studs presented on this station, from 1952 to 1997. Over the last few weeks, we’ve revisited a few of the first “Best of” episodes – shows Studs told us he liked best. In November 1961, Studs put together a two-hour, free-form tribute to his friend, “one of the great American originals and the last of the great balladeers,” folk singer Woody Guthrie (1912–1967).  Studs shared an edited rebroadcast of that program in 1992, and that is what we’ll hear tonight on the Best of Studs Terkel.
