The Gallwas Twins, Kenneth and Joseph Gallwas, made their duet debut at Carnegie Hall at just nine years old as winners of the American Protégé Competition, and took 3rd place in the 2024 Music Teachers National Association Competition in the nationwide Senior Piano Duet category, winning 1st prize in the state and district levels. They performed at the Grant Park Festival as part of Joyce Yang’s “Play with Masters” event, and also at the Interlochen Piano Intensive Final Recital.
Both avid concerto, solo, and chamber pianists as well, they have together performed nearly a dozen times with orchestra and in numerous solo competitions, including strong performances and prizes in the Aloha International Piano Competition, the International Young Artist Concerto Competition, the SeJong National Competition, Charleston International Competition, Buono International Piano Competition, and at the Seattle Bach Festival. Both Kenneth and Joseph study with Jeffrey Panko, Mary Sauer, and Sean Bennett at New Music School in Chicago; and have performed in dozens of piano masterclasses with the likes of Winston Choi, Allan Chow, Sylvia Wang, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Steven Osborne, Dang Thai Son, and Stanislav Ioudenitch. In their junior year of high school, they both play in the school orchestra, and are avid ice hockey enthusiasts.
