With the passing of folk musician Peter Yarrow in early 2025, the Best of Studs Terkel returns to April 12, 1961, when Studs introduced Peter Yarrow, Paul Stookey, and Mary Travers to WFMT’s listeners. That was three months after the trio debuted as Peter, Paul & Mary, a group which became known for their tightly blended vocal harmonies and for their social and political activism. Two years later, Peter, Paul and Mary performed in front of a half-million people gathered at the Washington Monument as part of Martin Luther King’s 1963 March On Washington.
