Today is pianist Jeffrey Wang, a senior at the University of Chicago Lab Schools and a student of Soo Young Lee. He plays Bach, Mozart, Ravel, Chopin and Niedermaier on the Fay & Daniel Levin Performance Studio Steinway.

Jeffrey Wang, 17, began piano studies at age 5. He has performed at Music Institute of Chicago’s Nichols Concert Hall and at the Merion Concert Series. His accolades include a triple Gold Medal from Sonata-Sonatina Festivals of Chicago Area (CAMTA), North Shore (NSMTA), and Northwest Music Teachers Associations, plus first prizes at Granquist Competition. Jeffrey won Second Prize (Senior Division) at the 2021 “Mozart with a View” International Young Artist Festival and Competition and received a Gold Medal in the The Rising Star Category from 2021 Canadian International Music Competition.

Jeffrey has played recitals at PianoForte Chicago and in the Steinway Young Artist Recital series hosted by the Skokie Library. In 2023, Jeffrey won second place in the senior division at the 2023 American Protege international Piano and Strings competition. He was featured in the winners recital playing at Weil Recital Hall (Carnegie Hall) later that year.

In addition to his musical achievements, Jeffrey is a competitive swimmer and actively participates in STEM activities at high school. This fall, he will attend the University of Chicago, where he plans to double major in Physics and Mathematics.
