The Grant Park Music Festival announced its Summer 2025 season back in January, but today, they reveal an additional attention-grabbing concert featuring some high-powered talent.

Superstar violinist Joshua Bell will join the Grant Park Orchestra for one night only, in a special concert on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at 6:30pm. Bell will join music director Giancarlo Guerrero to perform Édouard Lalo’s scintillating Symphonie Espagnole in an evening that will also feature music by Suppé and Tchaikovsky.

The performance will be held at Pritzker Pavilion, with free admission to audience members on the open air venue’s vast lawn. Individual tickets in the seated member section are available for purchase, as well.

One of the most respected violin virtuosos of his era, Joshua Bell’s numerous accolades include a Grammy and the Avery Fisher Prize, among countless others. Bell is also a respected conductor. He succeeded the legendary Sir Neville Marriner as the music director of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields in 2011. Bell last appeared in Chicago in June 2024 in a performance with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

The 2025 Grant Park Music Festival season marks the first under the direction of Giancarlo Guerrero. The season will continue on Friday, August 8, with a previously announced concert as Guerrero welcomes another respected violinist — Chicago-born artist Jennifer Koh — for music of  Jennifer Higdon.
