Celebrating Mozart (1/25/1974)

The prolific and influential composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791) was born in Salzburg, Austria, on January 27, 1756. For this tribute, first heard on WFMT in 1974, Studs brings together music and commentary by artists known for their Mozart performances. Among those voices is the eminent Austrian conductor, Josef Krips. “Mozart is the expression of eternal truth,” he tells Studs. “Beethoven sometimes reaches heaven. Mozart comes from there.”
