American composer Gabriela Lena Frank explores the relationship between painters Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera in her first opera El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego. With a libretto by Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright Nilo Cruz, the magical-realist work crosses between fantasy and real events to create a stunning portrait of one of art history’s most interesting couples. Isabel Leonard and Carlos Álvarez star as Frida and Diego. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts.
