Beethoven’s only opera is renowned for its drama and poltical commentary. Leonore (Malin Byström), wife of the wrongfully imprisoned Florestan (David Butt Philip), disguises herself to free her husband from jail. Also on the cast are Christopher Maltman as Don Pizarro, Tareqq Nazmi as Rocco, and Kathrin Zukowski as Marzelline. Franz Welser-Möst leads the Vienna State Opera Orchestra & Chorus.
