Callia Murray, 17, is from Vernon Hills, Illinois. She currently studies viola with Jonathan Brown, Professor of Chamber Music and Viola, at the Colburn Music Academy where she is a recipient of the Provost’s Fund Scholarship for the 2025-2026 school year. Callia is a 2025 and 2026 YoungArts Winner in the Classical Music/Viola category and a 2025 winner of the DePaul National Concerto Competition Viola Division. In 2024, Callia won the O’Malley Foundation National Concerto Competition (formerly Walgreens) Senior MYAC Overall and Strings Division and in 2022 Callia won the Walgreens National Concerto Competition’s MYAC Junior Division.

Callia has competed in multiple chamber music competitions including the 2025 Fischoff National competition where she won a bronze medal as a member of Quartetto Speranza. Additionally, her chamber groups won the Rembrandt, Glass City, and Chicago National Chamber Music competitions. Callia has attended numerous summer festivals including Tanglewood, Heifetz Institute and the Perlman Music Program.
