Evangeline Selking, 17, is a recent graduate of Downers Grove South High School, and has studied under the guidance of Laurel Tempas for six years. She is joined by collaborative pianist Dr. Katherine Petersen for this recital.
Evangeline played flute and piccolo in the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras’ flagship ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, which has performed at venues such as Lollapalooza and Orchestra Hall. Evangeline has appeared as a soloist at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall as a winner of the 2024 Pan-American Music Awards. She was selected for the ILMEA All-State Honors Band in 2023, 2024, and 2026, and was the principal flute of the ILMEA All-State Honors Orchestra in 2025. Evangeline has also won awards through the Charleston International Music Competition, Music International Grand Prix, and the DePaul National Concerto Competition. Recently, she was the first place winner of the American Wind Band Henrietta Kowalski Memorial Scholarship.
Outside of music, Evangeline enjoys reading and spending time with her cat. In the fall, Evangeline will be attending Yale University to study philosophy or chemistry.
