Tonight, we remember an auspicious beginning that came to pass during a WFMT radio program. On a cold morning in early 1952, Studs Terkel introduced two musicicians he admired both personally and professionally: the legendary blues artist Big Bill Bronzy (1893–1958) and folk singer Pete Seeger (1919–2014). This historic broadcast is one of the earliest surviving programs Studs made for WFMT. At the time, his then-weekly program, the Almanac, was heard live on Sunday mornings.
