MARIO DIAZ-MORESCO is garnering attention for his versatility and strong stage presence in both opera and art song.
Mr. Diaz-Moresco studied at the University of Colorado and the University of Southern California. He has been a young artist with Central City Opera, The Glimmerglass Festival and a Stern Fellow at Songfest. Roles include Papageno, Guglielmo, Schaunard, Joseph De Rocher, Mercutio, Sid, and Silvio.
An active recitalist, his art song repertoire includes works by Schumann, Vaughan Williams, Poulenc, Beethoven, Bolcom, Barber and Musto. In recent seasons, Mr. Diaz-Moresco has given recitals with pianist Spencer Myer on California’s “InConcert Sierra” series, the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Series in Chicago, the Saugatuck Chamber Music Festival, and the Rocky River Chamber Music Society of Ohio.
In 2016 Mr. Diaz-Moresco was invited to the Professional Studies Diploma program at the Mannes School, where he studies with Diana Soviero and played the lead role in Robert Ashley’s Dust under the music direction of Joan La Barbara, as well as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte.
This summer Mr. Diaz-Moresco will be an Apprentice Artist at Chautauqua Opera.
Lauded for “superb playing” and “poised, alert musicianship” by the Boston Globe, SPENCER MYER is one of the most respected pianists on today’s concert stage. He has been soloist with The Cleveland Orchestra, the Indianapolis, Phoenix, New Haven and Sante Fe Symphony Orchestras, the Johannesburg and Cape Town Philharmonics, and Beijing’s China National Symphony Orchestra. In 2014, he made his second appearance at London’s Wigmore Hall.
Winner of the First Prize in the 2008 New Orleans and 2004 UNISA (South Africa) International Piano Competitions, as well as the American Pianists Association’s 2006 Christel DeHaan Classical Fellowship, he was a member of Astral Artists from 2003 to 2010. An avid chamber musician, he has collaborated with the Jupiter and Pacifica quartets, soprano Nicole Cabell, the Dorian Wind Quintet, cellists Lynn Harrell and Ralph Kirshbaum, and clarinetist David Shifrin.
Spencer Myer is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory and The Juilliard School. He is currently Artist-Teacher of Piano and Collaborative Piano at Boston’s Longy School of Music of Bard College, and his latest CD — Piano Rags of William Bolcom — was released in January 2017 on the Steinway & Sons label.
