Pianist Lucas Amory performs works by W.A. Mozart, Gabriel Fauré, Germaine Tailleferre and Claude Debussy, live from the Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago.
Lucas Amory is currently pursuing his Masters in Piano Performance at the Juilliard School in the studio of Julian Martin and Shai Wosner. He previously graduated in 2024 from Harvard University cum laude as a recipient of the Robert Levin Prize in Music Performance with a double concentration in German and Music, while concurrently under the tutelage of Hae-Sun Paik at the New England Conservatory of Music. The first prize winner of the PianoArts 2024 North American Competition in Milwaukee and 2022 James Yannatos Harvard Concerto Competition, Lucas is also a 2020 Presidential Scholar of the Arts Semifinalist and National YoungArts Foundation Finalist in Classical Music while performing on all three stages of Carnegie Hall.
Outside of traditional solo repertoire, he specializes in chamber music, as a participant of the Ravinia Steans Music Institute from 2023-4 and Prussia Cove 2025, as the pianist to the Marlboro Festival Ross Garon Trio Çava and 2024-5 Juilliard Honors ensemble Trio PUMA, and as a member of the 63rd Taos School of Music Cohort this previous summer. He is also one half of the Rehmus Duo with his violinist sister Leah, and together they’ve toured and performed in Milwaukee, New York, and Philadelphia.
As a performer of contemporary music, he has collaborated with many esteemed artists and composers including Matt Aucoin and the American Modern Opera Company, Bruce Adolphe, Nico Muhly, and Claire Chase. When not playing piano, Lucas looks to further himself in all things music; he is a former conducting Music Director of Harvard’s Bach Society Orchestra, and has involved himself in countless opera and musical theater productions both in directorial and répétiteur roles, as well as having been employed as a Ferris Fellow baritone in the Harvard University Choir. Nowadays, he teaches privately, scores films, improvises, and occasionally practices fortepiano in addition to his main professional pursuits. In his down time, he enjoys long-distance runs, following Boston sports, and watching Top Chef.
