Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events have designated 2018 as the Year of Creative Youth, a citywide celebration of Chicago’s young artists and the mentors who inspire them. This celebratory year coincides with the 10th anniversary of WFMT’s Introductions, which spotlights the Chicago area’s talented pre-college musicians every Saturday morning at 11:00 am.

As a highlight event of the Year of Creative Youth, the Youth Arts Showcase (YAS! Fest) will take place on Saturday, September 22. Introductions host and producer Michael San Gabino will be on hand to kick off the festival from 11:00 am to noon for a live broadcast from the Jay Pritzker Pavilion. Featured ensembles include the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras and Chicago Children’s Choir. The fest is free and open to the public and runs until 7:00 pm on the Millennium Park campus.

The Year of Creative Youth is presented by Allstate Insurance Company with grant support provided by The Chicago Community Trust and support from the Chicago Transit Authority.
