Polish pianist Lucas Krupinski is the winner of the 7th International Piano Competition in San Marino and all of the contest prizes – the Audience Award, the Music Critics Award and the Orchestra Award in 2016.
A finalist of the International Competition of Ferruccio Busoni in Bolzano in 2017 and the winner of International Piano Competitions in Aachen (2016) and Hannover (2015). As a semi-finalist, Lucas found himself amongst the best 20 pianists of the 17th Frederic Chopin International Piano Competition, Warsaw in 2015.
In 2017 his debut album Espressione was released, including compositions by Haydn, Chopin and Scriabin, inspired by his musical travels to Italy. The CD has been nominated for the International Classical Music Awards 2018 alongside Krystian Zimerman and Evgeny Kissin and received excellent press reviews in Pizzicato Magazine, MDR Kultur, Radio Luxembourg, Radio France and Gramophone.
In 2018 Lucas held his debut recital at Carnegie Hall / Isaac Stern Auditorium and has since received invitations to play with Chicago Philharmonic and Buffalo Philharmonic in autumn last year. In the same year, he had a tournee with Santander Orchestra and legendary Lawrence Foster. During the Winter Olympics in South Korea, Lucas performed during a special recital in PyeongChang. In the last season he has performed in Teatro La Fenice in Venice, La Verdi in Milano, NDR Radio Philharmonie in Hannover with recitals in Paris, London, Tokyo and Sydney, to name a few.
Lucas has twice been a laureate of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage Prize for remarkable artistic accomplishments (2013, 2014), The Minister of Culture and National Heritage Scholarship (2015) and The Krystian Zimerman Foundation Scholarship (2015). In 2016 he was honoured with a Commemorative Medal of the Frederic Chopin University of Music in recognition of his artistic achievements. In 2017/2018 he received a prestigious DAAD scholarship for the postgraduate studies in Germany.
From September 2018 Lucas is studying an Artist Diploma at the Royal College of Music in London in the class of Professor Dmitri Alexeev, as a Kenneth and Violet Scott Scholar. He is also supported by the Hattori Foundation and the Philharmonia Orchestra. Lucas previously studied at the Frederic Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, where he graduated with a “Magna cum Laude” distinction under the supervision of Professor Alicja Paleta-Bugaj and Dr Konrad Skolarski. In the years 2016-2018 he has been a student of Professor Arie Vardi at Hannover University of Musik, Drama and Media.
