Today, the Grant Park Music Festival announced the cancellation of its 2020 season because of the COVID-19 crisis. The season was to run from June 10 to August 15, primarily at Millennium Park’s Jay Pritzker Pavilion.

According to the release, highlights from the now-canceled season were to have included two “genre-bending world premieres,” with one by Chicago composer Mischa Zupko, plus performances by Christian Tetzlaff, Rachel Barton Pine, and a presentation of Singin’ In the Rain with live orchestral accompaniment.

Said festival CEO and President Paul Winberg, “We are devastated about this decision not to move forward with our 2020 season.”

In place of the festival’s slate of free, in-person performances and events, the statement shares that there will be virtual programming unveiled later this month.
