Window To The World Communications, Inc. (WWCI), parent of WTTW and WFMT, announced today that current trustee and Vice Chair David C. Blowers has been selected to serve as Chair of the WTTW | WFMT Board of Trustees for a two-year renewable term effective July 1, 2020. He succeeds 2014-2020 Chair James W. Mabie.

Blowers has served as an active trustee of the WTTW | WFMT Board of Trustees since January 2002, chairing both the Development and Governance Committees and as a member of the Imagining More Campaign Committee.

“It has been a great honor to serve as Chair of the WTTW | WFMT Board for the past six years, and I am just as honored to welcome Dave to this important and influential leadership role,” said outgoing chair Mabie.

“This is an important time for WTTW and WFMT as our community turns to us for essential news and information, trusted educational programming for kids and families, immersive entertainment, and beautiful and inspiring classical music. Dave’s demonstrated commitment to the purpose and mission of WTTW and WFMT for the past two decades will serve us well as we face the future,” said President and CEO Sandra Cordova Micek. “I look forward to collaborating with him as we execute our three-year strategic plan while serving the public. Together, we will work to enrich lives, engage communities, and inspire exploration.”

“I am a believer in what WTTW and WFMT represent to our city and region – independent media content that stands out in the marketplace, is trusted by the community, provides access to the arts and education, and explores the stories of Chicago and beyond with depth, creativity, and purpose,” said Blowers. “I thank Jim Mabie for his stellar leadership of these two leading organizations over the past six years, and look forward to working with and learning from the staff and trustees.”

Blowers is an Executive Vice President and President of National Services Wealth Management at Northern Trust. Since joining Northern in 1982, he has run both the East and Central Regions in Wealth Management, and Europe, Middle East, Africa, and the Eastern Region of the United States in Corporate & Institutional Services. Over the course of his career, Blowers has worked in London, Hong Kong, and New York and Chicago. He serves as Board Chair of Lawrence University, was an Executive Committee member and Trustee of American Ballet Theater, a member of the Business Resource Council at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and served in leadership positions with both The Harris Theater and the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago.
