Introduced to Chicago audiences during John Eliot Gardiner’s Monteverdi 450 tour, Zachary Wilder is one of the most sought-after tenors specializing in 17th and 18th century repertoire. He joins Oliver to discuss the stylistic differences between seicento Italian composers (like Monteverdi) and composers of the High Baroque (like Bach and Handel). Wilder will be heard in next month’s WFMT Opera Series presentation of Handel’s Almira from Boston Early Music Festival.
