Tune if for an interview with one of the foremost bel canto tenors of his generation. Juan Diego Flórez made history in 2007 when he broke a decades-long ban at La Scala giving an encore of “Ah! mes amis” from The Daughter of the Regiment, known for its nine high Cs. Not heard in Chicago since Lyric Opera’s 2005 production of La Cenerentola, Flórez makes his long-awaited return this month in a recital of arias and Italian song with pianist Vincenzo Scalera at Symphony Center.

WFMT music director Oliver Camacho gives a pre-concert talk hosted by the CSO Latino Alliance. Learn more about the January 31st recital and pre-concert event HERE.

Watch a historic performance of a rare encore given by Juan Diego Flórez  at the Metropolitan Opera.
