Live on Introductions this weekend is violinist John Lee, a student at Midwest Young Artists Conservatory. After solo pieces by Eugène Ysaÿe and Jessie Montgomery, he's joined by pianist Milana Pavchinskaya in music of Johannes Brahms and Fritz Kreisler.



Violinist John Lee, 18 years old, is currently a senior at Vernon Hills High School. He has been playing violin for 13 years and studies under Almita Vamos and Injoo Choi. He has been a member of Midwest Young Artists Conservatory for 9 years, currently serving as the principal violinist in the MYAC Symphony Orchestra.

As a soloist, he has won prizes at the Walgreens National Concerto Competition, the Society of American Musicians Competition, the DePaul Concerto Festival, the Sejong Competition, the Vancouver International Music Competition, and the Sherer Violin Competition. In addition, John was invited to the Cooper International Competition in 2022 and International Young Artists Concerto Competition in 2023. He has appeared as a soloist with the Lake Forest Symphony and the MYAC Symphony Orchestra.

As an avid chamber musician, John has won prizes from the Rembrandt Chamber Competition and Chicago National Chamber Competition as well as performing in the quarterfinals of the Fischoff National Chamber Competition. Two of his chamber groups appeared on Introductions in July 2020 and in August 2021.

In the fall, he will begin a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance at the Juilliard School.
