In the season finale of WFMT Presents, Randall Goosby is interviewed by Oliver Camacho. At age 13, Randall Goosby was the youngest violinist to win the prestigious Sphinx Concerto Competition. Now 27 years old, the Juilliard graduate, has added an Avery Fisher Career Grant and an exclusive Decca recording contract to his accomplishments. Goosby’s debut album Roots with pianist Zhu Wang was an exploration of the music written by Black composers and inspired by Black American culture. His sophomore album, a pair of concertos recorded with Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Philadelphia Orchestra, was released last month.
