Third Coast Percussion, one of Chicago’s most notable and dynamic ensembles, has announced its upcoming season. The Grammy-winning group will present four Chicago concerts and a benefit in a season that runs from September 2023 to June 2024.

Opening the season is an appearance in the first-ever Beyond Baroque Festival, organized by the Chicago outfit Third Coast Baroque. TCP’s concert from Epiphany Center for the Arts previews the ensemble’s September 8 Cedille Records release Between Breaths and features selections by Ayanna Woods, Missy Mazzoli, and more.

Subsequent concerts in December and May — both at DePaul University’s Gannon Concert Hall — will boast Chicago premieres by Michael Burritt and Jessie Montgomery, who also performs on the program as violin soloist in a Lou Harrison piece.

The season finale, to be held at the Constellation, is the group’s annual Currents concert, which features music by emerging and exciting composers. 2024’s recital will feature world premieres by Joel St. Julien, Srayamurtikanti, Nick Zoulek, and Northwestern’s Hans Thomalla.

In addition to a benefit taking place in Chicago in October, the group will embark on a European tour and make appearances with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the Santa Rosa Symphony.
