Soprano Lise Davidsen is seen by many as a natural inheritor of the mantle of her fellow Norwegian Kirsten Flagstad and the Swede Birgit Nilsson as one of the great Wagnerians of her generation. She recently partnered with with another Norwegian, the formidable concert pianist and Scandinavian music specialist Leif Ove Andsnes, to record songs of Edvard Grieg. Thanks to WFMT’s association with the European Broadcasting Union, we are able to offer a performance by the Norwegian duo in works from that album as well as songs by Richard Strauss and Richard Wagner.
Pianist Leif Ove Andsnes and Lise Davidsen perform Zur Rosenzeit from Grieg’s Six Songs, Op. 48 at WQXR’s The Greene Space.
