Vienna’s Summer Night Concert was performed this year on June 8th, 2023. The annual open-air event has been held since 2008 in the magical setting of the park of the Schönbrunn Palace. The Vienna Philharmonic devoted the concert to works from French Romanticism to Impressionism. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducted and guest mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča performed arias by Georges Bizet, Charles Gounod, and Camille Saint-Saëns. Also featured was a composition by Lili Boulanger – a moving depiction of nature by the young composer who became the first female winner of the prestigious Prix de Rome in 1913.
