In this program featuring highlights from the New York Philharmonic discography, Leonard Bernstein, José Serebrier, and Pierre Boulez conduct works by Spanish and Mexican composers. The program opens with the Sinfonia India by Carlos Chávez, followed by a recording of Concierto de sur by Manuel Ponce with Sharon Isbin as the guitar soloist. We then hear music from two ballet scores by Manuel de Falla: The Three-Cornered Hat with mezzo-soprano Jan DeGaetani as soloist, and El amor brujo with mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne.
