Alan Gilbert is joined by two former Artists-in-Residence in works by Beethoven, Dvořák, and former Composer-in-Residence Magnus Lindberg. Dvořák’s Carnival Overture opens the program and is followed by the Beethoven Violin Concerto with Frank-Peter Zimmermann as soloist. That’s followed by Yefim Bronfman’s Grammy-nominated performance of the Piano Concerto No. 2 by Magnus Lindberg. We close with Dvorak’s Seventh Symphony, notable for its brooding first movement, dance-like scherzo, and triumphant conclusion.
