On this edition of “WFMT Presents” Kerry Frumkin speaks with seven time Grammy Winner, finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Music, and NEA Jazz Master, Maria Schneider.  The program features classical and jazz compositions she’s written over a period of three decades, mostly for her own orchestra, but also for soprano Dawn Upshaw and pop icon David Bowie.  In an extended conversation she had with Kerry this past July at the Ravinia Festival, she talks about her formative years, where her ideas come from, and the remarkable people who helped her find her voice.
