Stage director Lawrence Edelson joins WFMT to offer a preview of Chicago Opera Theater’s upcoming production of Ferdinando Paer’s Leonora. Edelson, who is also COT’s General Director, outlines the similarities and differences between the Italian opera and the German opera Fidelio by Beethoven. Both operas premiered around the same time and share the same source material, but each version shows the trajectory of the national operatic style of their composers. Chicago Opera Theater presents the North American premiere of Leonora with a dazzling cast led by Dame Jane Glover. Learn more HERE.
