CHICAGO (AP) – Children’s musician Ella Jenkins has died at the age of 100. Her publicist tells the Chicago Sun-Times that Jenkins died Saturday, November 9 at a senior facility in Chicago. Jenkins never married or had children of her own, but she became known as the “First Lady of Children’s Music.” She recorded more than 40 albums and specialized in teaching the call-and-response style of folk music. She was given a lifetime achievement Grammy in 2004.
