Gail Williams is an internationally recognized hornist and brass pedagogue. She played with Chicago Symphony Orchestra from 1978 to 1998. She has been a member of the Lyric Opera Orchestra and is currently principal horn of the Grand Teton Music Festival Orchestra.

An expert interpreter of Mahler’s symphonies, Bernard Haitink led the CSO in 2008 in the First Symphony — the work that introduced Mahler’s staggering talent to the public. The Chicago Sun-Times noted, “Haitink and the CSO demonstrated confidence, vigor, and ease . . . and brought the capacity crowd to its feet for a five-minute series of ovations.”

Wed, 11/20 — Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series: Sonic QuartetSonic Quartet (violinists Maxim Novojilov and Julia Antolec, violist Shane Quinn, and cellist Doireann Ní Aodáin)

Formed in 2023 as a flagship ensemble of the Royal Irish Academy of Music, the Sonic Quartet comprises prize-winning musicians Max Novojilov, Julia Antolec, Shane Quinn, and Doireann Ní Aodáin. They debuted as a quartet in a masterclass as part of the Wigmore Hall Festival.
