During his short life Alejandro García Caturla (1906‐1940) was both a musician and judge. He built an amazing and forward-looking musical catalog combining the Afro‐Cuban traditions and European classical techniques. Largely unknown outside Cuba until recent times, new recordings have sparked the interest for the music of this “secret” genius.
