In 1875, five pioneering women gathered with a simple mission: to share and explore their musical passions.  Dedicated to creating a vibrant local classical music community, Musician’s Club of Women (MCW) is now one of the oldest musical organizations in Chicago, continuously supporting emerging and established women musicians through scholarships and performance opportunities. Composer and soprano Patrice Michaels, a MCW member, joins WFMT to share performances of past award winners (including Susanna Phillips, Michelle Areyzaga, Elizabeth DeShong, and Nicole Cabell) and some of the history of the organization as MCW celebrates its 150th anniversary this year.  MCW’s anniversary gala headlined by Nicole Cabell is April 27.
