BAYREUTH, Germany (AP) — The tenor Piotr Beczała has been impressing audiences with his back-to-back performances in Wagner’s Lohengrin in less than 41 hours. First he was in Munich with the Bavarian State Opera. Then he was performing the same role at the Bayreuth Wagner festival in a different production. He received thunderous ovations for both. The 58-year-old admitted feeling pressure due to the demanding schedule and conductor Christian Thielemann’s return to Bayreuth. Despite limited rehearsal time, Beczała’s experience with the role allowed him to adapt seamlessly.
