The opera El majo y la maja (The Boy and the Girl) was premiered in Spain 1798. Written by Manuel García, who was one of the most internationally famous tenors of his era and a successful composer. He was also the father of the soprano Maria Malibrán, one of great opera voices of the 19th century.
