Daniele Rustioni leads the Bavarian State Opera in two tragic Italian operas. In Cavalleria rusticana, Ekaterine Buachidze and Yulia Matochkina play Lola and Santuzza – both lovers of the swaggering Turiddu (played by Ican Gyngazov). Playing the role of Alfio, Lola’s husband, is Wolfgang Koch. The program then turns to the story of Pagliacci with Jonas Kaufmann in the central role of Canio. Ailyn Pérez is Nedda, Thomas Mole is Silvio. and Wolfgang Koch plays Tonio.
