Internationally-acclaimed conductor Cristian Măcelaru wears many hats: the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Interlochen Center for the Arts’ World Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Music Director Designate of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Music Director and Conductor of the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music… and Music Director of the Orchestre National de France. It is as the latter that he appeared at the 2025 George Enescu International Festival last September, alongside legendary Austrian pianist Rudolf Buchbinder. Though most known for his recordings of classical period composers such as Haydn and Mozart, Buchbinder played the Gershwin Piano Concerto in this early fall concert.
