Two different conductors lead the Chinese NCPA Orchestra in works by some of the 20th century’s greatest composers. Conductor Zhang Xian focuses on the music of Dmitri Shostakovich, leading the orchestra in Shostakovich’s 5th symphony, and inviting violin soloist Ning Feng to perform the second violin concerto. Later, conductor Myung-whun Chung performs selections from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet.
