Nicole Cabell, the winner of the 2005 BBC Singer of the World Competition in Cardiff and Decca recording artist, is one of the most sought-after lyric sopranos of today. Her critically acclaimed solo debut album, Soprano was named “Editor’s Choice” by Gramophone and has received several prestigious awards. An alumna of the Ryan Opera Center, Cabell has performed a number of her signature roles at Lyric Opera of Chicago including Musetta in La bohème, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Adina in The Elixir of Love, and Micaëla in Carmen. Cabell recently recorded the lead soprano role in the world premiere recording of Joseph Bologne’s L’Amant anonyme. She joins host Oliver Camacho to recount the story of winning the Cardiff competition and to discuss using her platform to promote works by marginalized and disenfranchised composers.

Nicole Cabell joins Lara Downes’s program at Ravinia Festival on August 22 to perform songs of Margaret Bonds.
