Baritone Mischa Bouvier has been praised for his “soothing, cavernous baritone that can soar to heights of lyric beauty” (Opera News), his “rare vocal and interpretive gifts” (San Francisco Classical Voice), and his “rich timbre” and “fine sense of line” (New York Times).
His recent performances include: Bach’s St. Matthew Passion with Iván Fischer and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s at Carnegie Hall, and also with Helmuth Rilling and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Puerto Rico at the Festival Casals (singing the role of Jesus); the New York premiere of Jocelyn Hagen’s amass with Musica Sacra at Lincoln Center; Arvo Pärt’s Passio(Evangelisti) for the “collected stories” series at Zankel Hall; Apollo in Handel’s Apollo e Dafne and Polyphemus in Handel’s Acis and Galatea with the American Bach Soloists; and the role of Dr. P in Michael Nyman’s opera The Man Who Mistook his Wife for a Hat with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s.
As a winner of the 2010 Concert Artists Guild Competition, CAG presented Mr. Bouvier’s Carnegie Hall Recital debut at Weill Hall, and he has performed recitals for: Rockport Chamber Music Festival; Concerts at One at NYC’s Trinity Church; New York Festival of Song; Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts; and Clemson University.
Mr. Bouvier holds degrees in voice from Boston University and the University of Cincinnati, and has participated in several training programs including the American Bach Soloists ACADEMY and Tanglewood.
Pianist Yegor Shevtsov enjoys a multi-faceted career as a solo performer, chamber musician, collaborator and educator. His performances have been singled out for their “Mozartean elegance,” “perfect lucidity” (New York Times) and “superb musicianship” (Miami Herald). His recent notable engagements include concerto performances at Symphony Space (New York), Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, the National Theater in Taipei, and Auditorio de Ciudad de León (Spain). His numerous solo recitals have included music ranging from Rameau and Scarlatti to many composers of his generation. His recent recording of the piano music of Claude Debussy and Pierre Boulez was selected by rhapsody.com as one of the top 25 classical albums of 2013.
Mr. Shevtsov’s most significant artistic associations have been with baritone, Mischa Bouvier; world-renowned choreographer, Mark Morris; Red Light New Music; New World Symphony; American Ballet Theatre, and avant-garde composers Reiko Fueting, Yoav Gal, Andrew Noble and Scott Wollschleger. He has also performed with members of renowned ensembles, including the American String Quartet, and the International Contemporary Ensemble, among many others. Composers who have heard Yegor perform their works include Pierre Boulez, John Luther Adams, Elliott Carter, Charles Wuorinen, Steve Reich and George Crumb.
