Like most of us, tenor Lawrence Brownlee is trying to make the best use of his time and keep his spirits high during the pandemic. A favorite in Chicago, he has thrilled audiences many times at Lyric Opera of Chicago, most recently in 2019 portraying Count Almaviva in Rossini’s Barber of Seville. Throughout the quarantine, Brownlee has shared a host of videos with his Facebook audience that include solo singing, his family, his bass guitar skills, and his musical colleagues. The star tenor also has shared words of encouragement and resources for artists in need as he collaborates with musicians like soprano Susanna Phillips, tenor Nicholas Phan, and pianist Myra Huang in uplifting and beautiful songs.
