It was in 2002 that the United Nation first declared May 21 as UNESCO World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. On this week’s edition of Baroque&Before, our program celebrates this event with a Concert of Music for Life and Dignity. Jordi Savall leads Orpheus XXI, a group of professional musicians of diverse origins, at the Poblet Early Music Festival.

Tonight’s program, made available by Catalunya Música via the European Broadcasting Union, was recorded live in concert August 10, 2018 in the Old Dormitory of the Monastery, Royal Abbey, Santa Maria de Poblet, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Thanks to WFMT’s association with the EBU, we’ll be able to offer tonight’s program as a stream for the following 30 days. A blue “Listen” button will be active when the link is accessible.

As an affiliate of the European Broadcasting Union, WFMT is participating in “UNESCO World Day for Cultural Diversity,” highlighting the importance of cultural diversity and intellectual dialogue, as well as reinforcing the community that music has forged throughout history.
