Jacob Philipp Hackert: View of Saint Peter’s in Rome (1777)

Soprano Louise Alder and countertenor Christopher Lowrey join Ensemble Marsyas for an all-Handel program of trio sonatas and vocal duets, culminating in the 1708 cantata Amarilli Vezzosa, one of a few cantatas that only survive, unpublished, in manuscripts in the Santini collection at Münster.

Tonight’s program was recorded live in concert May 29, 2021 in London’s Wigmore Hall. Thanks to WFMT’s association with the European Broadcasting Union, we will be able to bring you tonight’s concert as a stream for 30 days following the broadcast.
