Mezzo-Soprano Katherine Beck & Pianist Craig Terry

In this program, mezzo-soprano Katherine Beck performs works of George Frideric Handel, Joseph Haydn, Gustav Mahler, Stephen Sondheim, Florence Price, and H. Leslie Adams. Love, jealousy, and deceit are the themes of Handel’s opera Serse, we will hear the bravura aria “Crude furie”. After that, gorgeous music from Haydn’s cantata Arianna a Naxos, then music from Mahler’s emotional Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen. The recital ends with songs by Black American composer Florence Price and Broadway great Stephen Sondheim.
