The 2022-23 Ryan Opera Recital Series begins with a program featuring third-year tenor Martin Luther Clark with the opera center’s conductor/pianist, Donald Lee III. They will present a program of 20th century vocal music from British and American composers. From England, Roger Quilter’s moving To Julia and Benjamin Britten‘s hymn-like Canticle 1. And from American the music from the musical The Wiz by Charlie Smalls and from George Gershwin‘s opera Porgy and Bess.
