Soprano Montserrat Figueras’s artistic and cultural legacy, especially in the realm of early music, cannot be overstated. On this edition of Baroque&before, Jordi Savall leads La Capella Reial de Catalunya and soloists, Montserrat Figueras among them, in a program titled “From Troubadours to People.” It’s one of a series of concerts performed in remembrance of Figueras, who died in 2011. Jordi Savall, widower of Figueras, released this program to the European Broadcasting Union for distribution in 2021. The recording comes from the live performance of June 14, 1991, in Barcelona’s 14th century Palau Reial Major, the former residence of the counts of Barcelona and the kings of Aragon.

This program will be available as a stream for 30 days following tonight’s broadcast. A blue “Listen” button will be visible on this page when the stream is accessible.
